PHASE ONE

Our Stories About Teaching and Learning

The research itself involves two phases. The first qualitative phase focused on developing an understanding of the pedagogical practices the Yukon rural community perceived influenced learning. In this qualitative phase, 52 interviews involving 54 community members, (43 First Nation citizens between the ages of 18 and 82 and 9 past and current teachers at the local school) lasting between 20 minutes and two hours, focused on identifying teaching and learning practices characteristic of effective teaching practices.
